Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada has said that the parliament was disrupted due to the main opposition when all parties should come together in times of crisis in the country. He said this while talking to reporters outside the parliament building after the House of Representatives meeting was adjourned due to opposition obstruction on Sunday.

He said that the opposition was against the practice of lawmakers being able to speak in parliament in times of trouble in the country, and the opposition was obstructing the parliament by saying that the Speaker would provide emergency time. He said that the opposition did not allow the parliament to function even when the Speaker informed that the Prime Minister would answer in parliament on Monday.

He said, “The ruling party and the opposition may have their own place, but when the country is in trouble, there is a practice of all being able to speak in parliament in unity and we were of the opinion that we should use that.” Even though the Speaker said that he would give us time, we were still sitting, that was our demand too. During the emergency, all the MPs demanded to speak after taking emergency time. The Speaker said, “Sit down, I will give you time,” but the main opposition did not agree. The Speaker has already replied that the Prime Minister will come tomorrow. The Prime Minister will answer and today, instead of MPs from all political parties speaking in Parliament, the main opposition parties did not allow the Parliament to function for various reasons.’

MP Khatiwada accused those who came with an oath to uphold the Constitution of playing a game to abolish the Constitution in the context of the Tinkune incident.
