Gorkha. The ninth edition of the Gorkhakali Running Cup football tournament, which has the largest prize money in the district, is set to begin on Falgun 7. The Harmatari Youth Club is organizing the tournament from Falgun 7 to 14, informed Kiran Dhakal, general secretary of the club.
He said that the tournament will be held at the Harmatari Stadium Sports Ground in the district headquarters with the slogan ‘Gorkhali Running Cup is the pride of Gorkhali, Harmatari Club’s campaign to develop sports in the entire district’. The club has been organizing the football tournament with the highest prize money in the district since 2070. General Secretary Dhakal informed that the winner of the competition will receive 400,000 and the runner-up 400,000 along with medals and certificates.
The best player during the competition will receive 25,000, the best goalkeeper 15,000, the best goal scorer 15,000, the most disciplined team of the competition will receive 35,000, and the emerging player 10,000. The club has been organizing the competition every year with the aim of developing the game of football in the district and producing new players. The organizers have estimated that 16 teams will participate in the competition.
