The Ministry of Urban Development’s financial progress in the current fiscal year is 17.93 percent.

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Urban Development has reported a financial progress of 17.93 percent in the current fiscal year. This was informed at a press conference organized to publicize the progress report of the ministry for the current fiscal year on Tuesday.

Out of the 1,623 programs for which bids were called under the ministry in the current fiscal year, 1,098 programs have been awarded contracts and construction work on 124 programs has been completed.

According to the spokesperson and joint secretary of the ministry, Narayan Mainali, the financial progress of the Ministry of Urban Development in the current fiscal year 2081/082 was 91.55 billion 23 million, of which 68.35 billion 83 million 39 thousand was allocated to the federal government.

Out of which 4.82 billion 38 million was allocated to the current fiscal year. 23 thousand and 63 billion 23 crore 45 lakh 16 thousand have been allocated for capital. He said that so far, the current expenditure is 25.23 percent and the capital expenditure is 17.43 percent.

He informed that a total of 12 billion 24 crore 3 lakh 87 thousand 917.93 percent has been spent so far. He said that out of the 3,716 new projects of the current fiscal year, 1,623 programs have been invited for bids and out of the 1,623 programs for which bids were invited, 1,098 programs have been awarded contracts and construction work on 124 programs has been completed.

He informed that out of the remaining 2,093 programs for which bids have not been invited, 288 programs are proposed for multi-year approval while 80 programs are proposed for revision.

Out of the 80 programs proposed for revision, 44 have been revised and the rest are in the process of being revised, the ministry said. He said that out of 1,459 old and multi-year approved programs, a total of 280 programs have been completed in the current fiscal year.

He said that out of the target of constructing 330 suspension bridges, 162 have been completed so far. He informed that out of the target of constructing 68 local level administrative buildings with the aim of providing smooth public service delivery from the local level, 36 local level administrative buildings have been completed so far and public services have resumed.

He said that 129 municipal administrative buildings are under construction. He said that out of the target of irrigating 1,723 hectares of irrigated area in this fiscal year, 678 hectares of area has been irrigated under the implementation of the small irrigation program.

Under the Bagmati Improvement Project, 200 meters of river embankment, 350 meters of road blacktop, and 150 meters of main sewer have been constructed in this fiscal year. He said that the contract for the construction of parapets and floodlights in accordance with international standards at the Kirtipur Cricket Ground was signed in 2081 Falgun and the construction work is progressing to complete the work by 2082 Baisakh 24.

So far, 80 percent of the construction work of the second phase of the Minister’s Residence in Bhaisepati has been completed and the remaining construction work is underway, and the construction work for the Chandidal Battalion has been completed and is in the process of being handed over and has already been put into use, the ministry said.
