Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Population will hold regular video briefings on ministry-level activities from today. The ministry will hold a briefing every Friday at 1:30 pm covering the week’s policy decisions, activities and information on the health sector, said ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki.

During a media briefing today, he said, “We are starting this with the aim of making the week’s policy or operational decisions, important health-related information and information easily available to the general public and stakeholders.” Earlier, the ministry had been holding regular video briefings during the Covid period. Currently, the ministry has been providing information and information through social media in addition to press releases.

Spokesperson Budhathoki said that essential medicines used in children’s cancer were received on Thursday and that these medicines were handed over to Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, Kanti Children’s Hospital, Patan Institute of Health Sciences and Bharatpur Cancer Hospital.

In a media briefing, Spokesperson Dr. Budhathoki informed that 92 percent of the total target was vaccinated in the HPV vaccination campaign against cervical cancer that ran from Magh 22 to Falgun 6. He informed that 1.435 million 789 people in the age group of 10 to 14 years studying from class 6 to class 10 and not going to school have been vaccinated.

The vaccination campaign has been difficult due to snowfall in the Himalayan districts of Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, and Humla, and they will be vaccinated at the end of Falgun, it was informed in the briefing. The ministry has stated that there is an arrangement for those who missed the campaign to go to the nearest health institution and get vaccinated later.

Dr. Budhathoki informed in a media briefing that 92,273 women between the ages of 30 and 49 across the country have undergone cervical cancer screening by the middle of this fiscal year. 60,937 people have been tested using the VIA method, 9,927 using the HPV DNA method, and 21,409 using the Pap smear method.

Spokesperson Dr. Budhathoki said that a campaign to consume common medicines against elephantiasis is underway in Banke. He informed that a campaign to consume common medicines against elephantiasis is being conducted in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City from Falgun 5 and in Duduwa Rural Municipality, Narainapur Rural Municipality and Baijanath Rural Municipality-4 from Falgun 7 and the campaign will continue for one month.
