Myagdi. The thirteen-kilometer-long Maldhunga-Beni road is being widened to 11 meters and blacktopped and sloped.

Maldhunga-Beni Road Upgradation Project Engineer Bishnu Chapagain informed that five kilometers and two hundred meters from Maldhunga to Farse in Jaljala Rural Municipality-8 Nagliwang have been blacktopped, and preparations are underway to blacktop an additional five kilometers in the Kerabari-Milanchowk-Lamakhet section. About two kilometers of slope have also been done.

He said that the upgrade, which was started four years ago with a contract agreement for 528.6 million rupees, could not be completed on time due to shortage of river-related construction materials. The construction was affected due to delays in demolishing the houses and shacks under the jurisdiction of the road in the Parbatbeni, Milanchowk and Lasti Bazaar areas.

So far, the physical progress of this road has been 70 percent. Final preparations have been made to blacktop a five-kilometer section of the Mohanchowk-Lamakhet-Parbatbeni, Kerabari-Milanchowk section.
