Kathmandu. The Inland Revenue Department has collected 84.53 billion 64 million in internal revenue in the month of Poush. The department has collected 12.43 billion 71 million more revenue than last year.
The department had set a target of collecting 103.91 billion in revenue in the month of Poush. However, the actual revenue collection was limited to 84.53 billion 64 million.
This month, 59.6 billion revenue has been collected under the income tax heading against the target of 77.20 billion. 11.41 billion has been collected against the target of 16.27 billion in value-added tax (VAT). 10.13 billion revenue has been collected against the target of 10.38 billion. Similarly, only 396.7 million has been collected against the target of 621.4 million in rent tax. Only 1.14 billion rupees have been collected in the month of Poush against the target of collecting 1.62 billion rupees in interest tax.
665.9 million rupees have been collected in the month of Poush on health service fees. The department had set a target of collecting 1.10 billion rupees in revenue under this heading. 311 million rupees have been collected in the month of Poush against the target of collecting 209.2 million rupees in education service fees. The revenue collection target has been exceeded as the number of students going abroad is increasing. 932 million rupees have been collected in other headings.
Poush is the month with the highest revenue collection. According to the Income Tax Act 2058, 40 percent of the advance income tax has to be deposited this month. Similarly, the remaining 60 percent has to be paid in the months of Chaitra and Ashar at the rate of 30 percent each.
How much revenue was collected in Poush last year ?
The Internal Revenue Department had set a target of collecting 100 billion rupees in revenue in the month of Poush 2080. The department had collected only 70 billion 76 million rupees in revenue against that target. 49 billion 60 million rupees were collected against the target of 71 billion 90 million rupees in income tax. Revenue collection was 10.31 billion against the target of 15.2 billion VAT.
Similarly, only 8.63 billion tax was collected against the target of 14.88 billion towards excise duty. Similarly, 37.58 billion against the target of 488.1 million rent tax, 1.62 billion against the target of 7.56 billion interest tax, 59.34 billion against the target of 902.2 million health tax, 259.9 million against the target of 241.1 million education tax. 707.6 million tax was collected under other headings.
