Kathmandu. Nepali Congress lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC has drawn the attention of the government to provide fertilizer to the farmers on time. He made the demand while speaking at a special time in the House of Representatives meeting on Monday.
He urged the government to investigate and investigate the grant of Rs 5.67 billion in the name of agricultural cold stores and respond to it.
He objected to the requirement of about 750,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer every year, but the required fertilizer has not yet arrived. He said that farmers would suffer more if they do not get fertilizer on time. He also said that the current agricultural budget is not enough.
Lawmaker KC said, “One and a half months ago, the Ministry of Agriculture distributed rs 7.66 billion grant in the last five years, how many genuine farmers have received such distribution? How much was used, how many irregularities were committed, how much political and economic interests took place, what is happening about it? We need about 750,000 metric tons of fertilizer every year. The fertilizer cannot be taken more than Rs 4.5 to 65 lakh. Every government should understand what is the agricultural season, when fertilizer is needed, at that time it should be taken from government to government or tender. When there is a need for fertilizer, there is a situation that the tender is being done, which has caused more problems to the farmers. The current agricultural budget is not enough. ’
Lawmaker KC urged not to be biased in the continuation of the budget. Agriculture development is a national necessity, he said.
