Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has said that the government was making policy, legal and structural reforms to speed up public service. Speaking at a programme titled ‘Kavi Goshthi and Health Camp’ organised by Democratic Artists and Employees Association here today on the occasion of the 68th birth anniversary of Nepal Academy, he said preparations were underway to bring culture and tourism policy as soon as possible.
“The culture and tourism policy is currently in the council of ministers and it will be approved by the next cabinet meeting,” he said. Acts related to culture, tourism, civil aviation, physical heritage and ancient monument protection are also being formulated. Minister Pandey said that the government was working seriously to reform the public bodies. He said he was interviewing the private sector.
He said the government is working towards increasing productivity. Minister Pandey said, “The private sector has said that it takes 40 people abroad to run a five-star hotel, it is difficult to run even 400 people here, because our productivity is low, we are reducing the work, so how many employees are needed in a public institution. ’
Stating that Nepal is rich in terms of religious, natural, geographical structure, fertile land and water resources, he said the government was working on its management and utilization. Nepal Academy Chancellor Bhupal Rai urged all to work for the protection of Nepali language and culture. Poet Babu Tripathi, Pragati Rai, Tulsihari Koirala, Ranjita Giri and Kalpana Bhandari among others recited poems on the occasion.
