“The government has given priority to the development of sports sector.

Kathmandu. Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary has said in today’s meeting of the National Assembly that the government has allocated budget keeping in priority for the maximum development of the sports sector.

Responding to the queries raised by the National Assembly members regarding the Appropriation Bill- 2082 BS, Minister Chaudhary said that work would be done to increase the capacity of sports sector and sportspersons by making maximum use of resources.

Stating that the budget received by his ministry has been allocated in an inclusive manner as per the ceiling, he assured that the amount would be mobilized for the upliftment of the youth and sports sector.

Stating that special priority has been given to the construction of the cricket stadium, which has been promoted as a national pride, he said that the work of the cricket stadium at Kirtipur has progressed significantly. According to him, 12 stadiums including Mulpani Cricket Stadium and Girija Prasad Koirala Cricket Stadium are being constructed.

Minister Chaudhary informed that necessary budget has been allocated for the construction of at least 50 stadiums for the football sector. He said that necessary preparations have been made to identify talented players from the village in the sports category.

Stating that the 10th National Games could not be held within the stipulated time due to lack of physical infrastructure development, he expressed the belief that it would be completed soon. He said that the construction of physical infrastructure for the tournament has been expedited and it would be completed in a historic manner in the coming fiscal year. Minister Chaudhary also informed that scout committees are being formed at 753 local levels.
