Gandaki. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the country’s economy is gradually improving. Inaugurating the Gandaki Provincial Office Building of the National Commercial Bank in Pokhara today, he said that the problems seen in the economy when the current government was formed have gradually improved.
He mentioned that the current government consisting of two major parties was formed to solve the existing problems including the deteriorating economic situation of the country. Stating that the economic indicators also show that the country’s economy has improved, Finance Minister Poudel claimed that the current government has the willpower and is capable of solving the problems.
Mentioning that the government has constructed the Pokhara International Airport, he clarified that the government is also working towards its operation. “The Prime Minister himself has been holding meetings and discussions regarding the operation of Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports several times, Minister Poudel said, adding that the government is serious about its operation.”
He stressed that government banks should attract the general public. Gandaki Province’s Minister for Industry and Tourism, Mitra Lal Basyal, said that Gandaki Province has immense potential for industrial, agricultural and tourism development and urged banks and financial institutions to invest in these sectors.
Member of the House of Representatives, Damodar Bairagi, pointed out the need to invest in the productive sector. Ram Prasad Gyawali, Director of Rastriya Banijya Bank, said that economic indicators show that the country’s economy is moving in a positive direction. At the program chaired by bank director Laxman Ghimire, Provincial Assembly member Prakash Baral, Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey, and Chief Executive Officer of Rastriya Banijya Bank Devendra Raman Khanal said that the role of banks and financial institutions is important in the economic development of the country.
