Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has taken action against two business companies. The department has taken action against Pashupati International Business Pvt. Ltd. and Pashupati Trading Concern Kathmandu, which are dealers in the valley, for violating the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS, informed the department’s Director General Kumar Prasad Dahal.
According to him, the business of gutkha and khaini sold and distributed by Pashupati International Business Pvt. Ltd. has been stopped and since the weight of the company’s products was found to be faulty, it has been directed to stop the business across the country.
Similarly, it has been said that both the business companies have also been issued notices to appear before the department within three days along with documents. Under the direction of Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari, the department is continuously monitoring and making action effective to protect consumer rights.
The government has made the maximum retail price (MRP) mandatory for all goods sold in the market. Action has been initiated against those selling goods without MRP.
