Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the country’s economy will be boosted through information technology. Addressing the ‘8th Nepal Chamber Expo 2025’ organized by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce at Bhrikuti Mandap today, Minister for Communications Gurung informed that the ministry is working on infrastructure and policy-level work to strengthen the IT sector.
Minister Gurung, who is also the spokesperson for the Nepal government, said that Nepal’s economy was weak in the past, but it has improved due to the efforts of the current government. He said, ‘We are working actively in both policy and infrastructure construction.’ According to him, infrastructure in the IT sector, including national parks and IT parks, will be built within this year.
He said that the ordinance brought by the government has increased enthusiasm among entrepreneurs and will have a positive impact on the economy. He informed that the draft AI policy is under discussion in the ministry. Minister Gurung emphasized the Digital Nepal campaign and mentioned that the government’s long-term goal is to contribute five percent to the economy. He said that the ministry is active in creating a basis for ensuring employment in the IT sector in Nepal.
