Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the country’s economy will recover only if it attracts investors. He made this statement while speaking at the pre-budget discussion program for the fiscal year 2082/083 organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Kathmandu on Sunday.
He said that to bring the economy back to normal, it is necessary to increase the morale of the private sector and attract investors along with job creation.
According to Finance Minister Poudel, the current government is serious about listening to the private sector and solving the problems of the private sector. He said that the current government has tried to solve the problems of the economy by forming an Economic Reform Suggestion Commission to solve the problems seen in the economy after the government was formed.
He mentioned that he has taken the initiative to solve the problems seen in the economy by bringing a bill through an ordinance. He said that issues that can be addressed through the budget to make the economy dynamic should be addressed through the budget and issues that can be addressed through laws should be addressed through legislation or amendments.
Deputy Prime Minister Poudel said, ‘The current government is eager to listen to the private sector and solve the problems of the private sector. We had discussed the kind of slack that has existed in the economy since the government was formed, how to break this slack, get out of it and make it dynamic.’ During the discussion, we realized that we have some legal obstacles, and based on the belief that the private sector cannot be encouraged without removing those obstacles, we have tried to address them through some laws and ordinances.’
‘The process of amending the law is not enough, we will also continue the work of amending the law, we should also pay attention to the demands of the private sector to be addressed and we have formed a high-level economic reform suggestion commission to make the overall economy dynamic. We have said that we will gradually implement the suggestions given by the economic reform suggestion commission. It is not possible to implement everything at once. What can be addressed through the budget should be addressed through the budget, issues that can be addressed through the law should be addressed by making laws or through amendments. Appropriate decisions should be made for solutions that can be made through decisions at other executive levels. “Our country’s economy cannot move forward without boosting your morale, attracting investors, and creating jobs,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Poudel also said that the government will pay attention to the suggestions given by the private sector as much as possible.
