Kathmandu. The government is going to bring a budget of more than Rs 2.4 trillion in the federal budget by 2084/85.

According to the mid-term expenditure structure prepared by the National Planning Commission, the government has an ambitious plan to bring a budget of Rs 2.4 trillion by the fiscal year 2084/85 BS.

Prior to that, the government plans to bring a budget of Rs 2,128 billion in 2083/84. In the current fiscal year, the government is implementing a budget of Rs 1,662 billion. Whose implementation is not effective.

According to the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, which keeps track of government income and expenditure, rs 1,379 billion has been spent till June 15. Especially in recent years, the current expenditure has skyrocketed, while the development budget seems to be shrinking and the implementation of the shrinking budget is also surprising.

In the current fiscal year, out of the budget of Rs 1,140 billion allocated for the current fiscal year, Rs 910 billion has already been spent, while if we look at the development side, only Rs 159 billion has been spent out of the capital budget of Rs 352 billion. The government has spent a large amount of money to repay the loan during this period. Of the Rs 367 billion allocated for debt management, Rs 309 billion has already been spent.

The government has put in the three-year mid-term expenditure structure that will have to allocate more than Rs 853 billion in the current head by 2084/85. Similarly, the government plans to allocate Rs 598 billion under capital head for the current fiscal year. The government plans to allocate Rs 417 billion for financial management.

The government has also planned to increase the grants given to the local and provincial governments by 2084/85. In the current fiscal year, the federal government has been sending a budget of Rs 361 billion under the financial transfer. The government plans to increase this amount to Rs 539 billion by 2084/85.

Experts have been questioning such grants saying that the state and local levels have not become self-reliant due to such grants going from the government in the recent past.

Resources have also been targeted in the medium-term expenditure structure created by the Planning Commission. In the current fiscal year, the government has set a target of collecting Rs 1,468 billion from taxes and revenue, but in 2084/85, the government has set a target of earning more than Rs 2 trillion. Similarly, in the current fiscal year, the government is expecting Rs 23.89 billion in grants, while in 2084/85, such grants are expected to be Rs 50 billion.

Similarly, the government has estimated that rs 310 billion would be required against the target of Rs 169 billion in the current budget.
