Kathmandu. Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, has said that there is a need to prepare skilled manpower who can use technology for employment. At the MoU signing ceremony between the Local Development Training Institute, Foreign Employment Board and Helvetas Nepal organized at the ministry, he emphasized on producing skilled manpower with knowledge, skills and ability to use technology in the changing environment of the world.
Minister Bhandari also informed about the preparations to conduct a ‘Diploma in Labor Studies Course’ in collaboration with universities, pointing out the need for studies in the labor sector. He said that information is being disseminated through the Employment Service Centers at all local levels to provide all the services provided by the Ministry of Labor in an integrated manner. He also mentioned that the available employment opportunities are not being utilized properly due to lack of information.
Minister Bhandari discussed the important role of the Swiss government and Swiss Contact in making the labor and immigration sector accessible to all. He also expressed confidence that the National Immigration Policy for the first time in Nepal is nearing completion and will be passed by the Council of Ministers soon.
On the same occasion, a tripartite memorandum of understanding was signed between the Local Development Training Institute, the Foreign Employment Board and Helvetas Nepal for capacity development in labor, employment and immigration.
Ministry Secretary Dr. Krishnahari Pushkar expressed confidence that this tripartite memorandum of understanding will help in the management of training and skills, needs and training, as well as access to training and opportunities for all. He said that all three organizations will support, collaborate and appreciate each other and take the work of labor immigration to a higher level.
