Teams deployed to check the status of lumpy skin and African swine fever

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has mobilized the subordinate bodies to identify effective measures for immediate control of lumpy skin and African swine fever by studying the objective location of the disease.

A meeting of the concerned officials held today under the chairmanship of Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari decided to form a team led by a senior veterinary doctor under the Department of Animal Services with the participation of livestock disease investigation laboratory, concerned officials under the state ministry and local levels. According to the Ministry, the Department of Animal Services has designated dr Tapendra Prasad Bohora, senior veterinarian at the Animal Health Division of the Ministry, as the focal point for daily/periodic reporting of the status of the disease.

According to minister Adhikari’s secretariat, the meeting directed the Department of Animal Services to assess the risk of diseases of animals transmitted by insects, including mosquitoes, which may appear with the onset of the rainy season, and prepare the cost of necessary items and wages, including vaccines, required for disease control and vaccination work.
