Kathmandu. Talks between the government and transport entrepreneurs have begun. Information Officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rabindra Acharya, said that the talks between the talks team formed under the leadership of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Krishna Raj Panta, and the transport entrepreneurs have begun.

Earlier in the day, a meeting with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak formed a negotiating team under the leadership of Panta. Transport entrepreneurs had stopped plying vehicles today in protest against the ‘ride-sharing’ regulations issued by the Gandaki state government. As a result, normal life has been affected since morning.

Sajha buses are operating in small quantities in the Valley. Passengers were waiting for buses on the road as they could not find transport. Transport entrepreneurs have also formed a nine-member negotiating team. Saroj Sitaula, senior vice-president of the Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs and a member of the negotiating team, said a nine-member committee has been formed to hold talks with the government.

Fifteen arrested

Meanwhile, police have arrested 15 protesters for blocking traffic today. Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa, said that they have been detained for blocking traffic across the country. He said that the police are providing free bus service by operating two buses in the Valley.

Similarly, the work of sending the stranded passengers to their destinations is going on by ‘skating’ in other areas.
