Supreme Court closes 8 brick factories in Panchkhal, concludes that they have affected human health

Kavrepalanchok. The Supreme Court has ordered the closure of the brick industry operating in Panchkhal Municipality. The court has ordered the closure of the brick kiln operating there, finding that it has seriously affected the environment and public health.

The locals had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on 14 Poush 2076 BS, naming Panchkhal Municipality, the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Archaeology, among others, as defendants.

Currently, eight brick kilns are operating in Panchkhal. Meanwhile, Panchkhal Municipality has adopted a policy to reform industries including brick kilns by formulating an environmental policy, a press release said on Tuesday.
