Kathmandu. Nepali students have spent nearly Rs 56.83 billion for foreign studies. According to the details of the six months of the current fiscal year made public by the Nepal Rastra Bank, despite a decrease of more than Rs 2 billion compared to the same period last year, the amount of money going abroad in the name of education is increasing.
Last year, an amount of Rs 58.95 billion was spent abroad for foreign studies. During the review period, travel expenditure under the service account increased by 9.7 percent to Rs 101.92 billion. Last year, travel expenditure was Rs 92.87 billion in the six months of the previous year.
During the review period, net service income was in deficit by Rs 43.53 billion. In the same period of the previous year, net service income was in deficit by Rs 35.43 billion. Under the services account, tourism income increased by 5.1 percent to Rs 41.86 billion during the review period. Such income was Rs 39.82 billion during the same period of the previous year.
