Kathmandu. Student organizations have given an ultimatum to the government to address the demands of teachers who have been protesting for 24 days. They have demanded that the government address the teachers’ demands, saying that teaching and learning have been disrupted across the country.

The student organizations involved in the joint student movement, ANRFSU, Akhil Samajwadi and Akhil Chhaithau, have issued a joint statement and issued a strong warning. Addressing the teachers’ movement in 5 points, the student organizations have demanded that the teachers’ demands be met as soon as possible and teaching and learning be resumed.

They have also warned of a strong movement if the government ignores the teachers’ demands.

This is the joint statement

1) We express solidarity with the joint student organization for the movement launched by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation since 20 Chaitra 20, 2081, demanding the issuance of a new Education Act. .

2) We strongly demand the government to immediately issue the Education Act.

3) Public schools are closed due to the teachers’ strike. The student enrollment campaign has been stopped

Yes, the Class 12 exam has become uncertain, the examination of the SEE answer sheets has been stopped. Public education has become chaotic, due to which lakhs of students have been affected. But shamefully, the government has not made any effort to issue a new Education Act and solve the problems of teachers. This kind of irresponsible attitude of the government has made us serious. We want to ask the government how many months millions of teachers will have to stay on the streets.

4) On the one hand, public schools are closed, while on the other hand, private schools are enrolling students and conducting classes. This will clearly affect the entire academic session. In addition, a dual educational environment has been created where private students go to school and participate in classes, but students in public government schools have to stay at home.

5) Therefore, we want to draw the serious attention of the government to fulfill the legitimate demands of the teachers. We also strongly demand that the government take appropriate and effective initiatives to arrange classes in public government schools as soon as possible and to conduct the exams of classes 12 and 11 on time. Otherwise, we would like to warn that the joint student organizations will fight harder for the rights of students.
