Banke. The storm that struck last night caused the collapse of three poles of a 33 kV transmission line in Kohalpur, Banke, disrupting electricity supply in some parts of the district.
Jagannath Lamchhian, head of Nepal Electricity Authority Nepalgunj Distribution Center, informed that the electricity supply, which had been disrupted since 10:00 pm, has not been restored yet.
He said that it would take some time for electricity supply to resume and that work in other places would begin after the main transmission line work was completed. “Details of all the places are being collected and it will take some time,” he said.
Informing that work is underway to restore electricity as the ‘towers’ of the 33 kV transmission line have been affected due to bad weather, Lamichhane said that the exact location of the problem is yet to be identified.
He informed that electricity poles are being replaced in some places and new electrical wires have been connected in some places. Nepal Electricity Authority Distribution Center Nepalgunj has reported that the strong winds bent the electricity poles in Naharpurwa, Nepalgunj-22 and stuck zinc sheets on the wires.
Similarly, the winds blew away the zinc sheets of the Area Police Office in Duduwa, Vanakatti, and the police officers there have taken shelter elsewhere, said Deepak Patali, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.
