Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair and lawmaker Dr Chandra Kanta Raut has demanded that the federal government hand over the development works to the state and local levels. Raut made the demand while participating in a discussion on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill in the Meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
He argued that the federal government did not carry out development works like roads and slopes at the local level. He said the central government should only play the role of coordination and cooperation in the development works.
Raut questioned the ‘Janata Awas Programme’ and accused it of displacing the poor. He stressed that the budget brought by the government should address the real problems of the people.
“Now we have to take the principle of developmental transfer,” he said. It is not the job of the federal government to build a slope from this falano’s house to the house of the mound. All development works should be handed over to the state and local governments. It’s not about collaborating and coordinating with them. That is why we should adopt the principle of handing over all the development works to the state and local levels without much greed. ’
It has been practically confirmed that Singha Durbar cannot provide citizen-friendly services, he added.
