Kathmandu. Spark Car, which has been providing vehicle and driver services to passengers across the country, is planning to organize Spark Adventure 2025 from April 10 to 12 in Gauritap, Pattale, Solukhumbu.
Sitaram Ghimire, director of Spark Car, informed that more than 200 people will participate in the third edition of Spark Adventure, which will be organized under the theme ‘Gateway to Everest’.
‘Spark Adventure is organized to promote sustainable tourism and green mobility and promote neglected tourist destinations,’ Ghimire said. ‘Participants will travel round-trip in BYD’s electric vehicles.’ Gauritap, which can be reached by road from Kathmandu in a day, is a suitable destination for observing the mountains including Everest.
Gauritap, located at an altitude of three thousand meters above sea level, is a destination with abundant tourist potential from a religious and tourism perspective. Gauritap, located 230 kilometers from Kathmandu, is located on the border of Nechasalyan Rural Municipality and Solu Dudhkunda Municipality.
Laureshwor Baba, a conservation and promotion campaigner for the Gauritap area, said that this place, where Mata Gauri performed penance in Satyayug, is very important from a religious perspective. “It is believed that a cow named Gauri was attacked by a tiger while giving milk in the rock where Mata Gauri performed penance, and the cow’s hoof rested on the stone, hence the name Gauri Tap,” he said.
Gauri Tap is an overlooked tourist destination where you can observe the Everest mountain range from up close by sitting on a four-wheeled vehicle. From here, you can view the mountains and peaks of Mount Everest, including Gauri Shankar, Lhotse, Makalu, Kumbhakarna, Kanchanganga, which are more than eight thousand meters high.
More than two dozen types of tapas are found in this area, which has a dense forest of red tapas. Religiously important, Gauritap has the Gauri Shankar-Ganesh temple, Gauri Gai temple, and Shiva Panchayan temple. More than two hundred people, including high-ranking officials of government and non-government organizations, businessmen, artists, tourism workers, and journalists, will participate in the Spark Adventure.
On the first day of the Spark Adventure, on April 26, an exciting journey will take place from Kathmandu to Gauritap, Pattale in an electric vehicle. On the first day, there will be a stay in a tent camp in Gauritap. Participants will enjoy nature and taste local dishes.
On the second day, after sunrise and a view of the golden snow range at that time, they will reach Rumjhatar in the afternoon. On the same evening, guests and locals will enjoy a musical program featuring local culture and national artists.
On that day, participants will spend the night at a homestay in Rumjhatar, Okhaldhunga, enjoying the taste of local dishes and lifestyle. Spark Adventure coordinator Amardeep Bhattarai says that this is expected to promote rural tourism.
The proverb ‘Ghumifiri Rumjhatar’, which is named after this place, is popular in Nepali folklore. Rumjhatar, which is home to a majority of the Gurung community, was once famous for sheep farming and radi. The radi made from sheep wool produced here was transported from Rumjhatar Airport to Kathmandu.
On the third day, the participants are scheduled to return to Kathmandu in electric vehicles.
Spark Adventure is organized every year with the aim of promoting destinations and activities that have great tourism potential but have been overlooked. Spark Car first promoted the Bhiramauri honey hunting observation in Bhujung, Lamjung in 2022, and in the second edition in 2023, it promoted tourism in Shailung, located on the border of Dokhla and Ramechhap, under the theme of ‘Wild Stay with Chauri’.
Spark Car, which has also been working in the field of adventure tourism, has been managing transportation for passengers. From providing self-drive cars to providing only drivers, Spark has also been providing various types of vehicles with drivers across the country.
