Sigdel elected as president of Tourism Development Professionals Association

Kathmandu. Achyut Prasad Sigdel has been elected unopposed as the chairman of the Nepal Tourism Development Entrepreneurs Association. The association’s sixth general assembly held in the capital on Tuesday elected a nine-member working committee under Sigdel’s chairmanship.

Bhagwat Simkhada has been elected as the vice-chairman of the committee, Bharat Prasad Timalsina as the secretary, Amit Vasti as the deputy secretary, and Raju Thapaliya as the treasurer, said election committee coordinator Dilliram Subedi. Similarly, Rishiraj Upadhyay, Upesh Kunwar, Sunita Bhattarai and Vidit Shrestha were elected as members of the association.

Inaugurating the general meeting, Nepal Chamber of Commerce Acting President Deepak Kumar Malhotra emphasized that the country, which is home to Pashupatinath for the followers of Vedic Sanatan Hinduism spread across the world, Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha for the followers of Buddhism, and Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, can attract more tourists if it is properly promoted and managed.

Although Tribhuvan International Airport and the airport in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, were similar five decades ago, Bangkok’s airport has now expanded due to the influx of tourists and is among the largest in the world, he said, adding that the capacity of the airport should also be expanded to attract tourists. .

Sagar Pandey, President of Trekking Agency Association of Nepal, said that everyone should be united for a smooth environment for doing business. Thakur Prasad Pandey, Senior Vice President of Nepal Mountaineering Association, said that the Mansarovar pilgrimage has been facilitated.

The newly elected President of the Association, Sigdel, said that religious and cultural research has been conducted in Panauti, Helambu, Chandragiri, Nuwakot and other areas and that activities will now be conducted on that basis. Various personalities who have done excellent work in the tourism sector were also honored at the program.

On that occasion, tourism entrepreneur Ram Sharan Nepal, tourism and transportation entrepreneur Samman Kedarnath Kattel, tourism entrepreneur Samman Bikash Thapa, tea entrepreneur Rameshwor Maharjan, tourism and guide Rajkaji Maharjan, and hotel entrepreneur Chiranjivi Bhatta were honored for their excellent service.
