Shrestha’s work Prehistory: Primitive Civilization Revealed

Kathmandu. Geologist and archaeologist Bikram Shrestha’s new work Prehistory: Primitive Civilization has been released. Former Registrar of Tribhuvan University Prof. Dr. Peshal Dahal released the book. Author Shrestha said that this book focuses on the lifestyle of the people before the development of civilization in the world and the culture they developed.

This is Shrestha’s second book published by the Centre for Culture and Archaeological Studies. Earlier in 2079 BS, the Study Center had published a book titled The Origin of the Himalayas by Shrestha.

Shrestha, who is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Florida in the US, has completed his master’s degree from the Central Department of Geology of Tribhuvan University and the Central Department of Nepali History, Culture and Archaeology. In this book, he has presented material in simple Nepali language about the origin and evolution of organisms on earth as well as the technologies developed by humans at different times.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dahal said that the book has been prepared by updating many information in the book on prehistory written by him a few decades ago. Shrestha, who has studied both archeology and geology, said that pre-historic studies in Nepal at present are very small and could contribute well to it. Dahal said the book would be even more useful for the students and scholars of archaeology and geology.

Former heads of the Central Department of Nepali History, Culture and Archaeology at Tribhuvan University Prof Dr Madan Kumar Rimal, Prof Dr Som Prasad Khatiwada, Assistant Professor Sandhya Khanal Parajuli, Prof Dr Kavilash Poudel of the Central Department of Geology, among others, commented on the authors and books.

Former Director General of the Department of Archaeology Bhesh Narayan Dahal, tu culture department teachers and students and youth and children volunteers for the 2080/81 heritage of Kathmandu Metropolitan City were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudarshan Aryal, chairman of the Centre for The Study of Culture and Archaeology, said that the centre has been active in the study and research of Nepali history and archaeology in the recent past. He said that the study center is moving ahead by conducting research in a new way by involving aware youth.
