Kathmandu. The National Independent Party has warned that it will seek legal redress if the suspension of party president Ravi Lamichhane is not lifted immediately. Addressing the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, party vice president Dr. Swarnim Wagle gave this warning.

He accused President Lamichhane of wielding the entire state power with vengeance and prejudice. He said that Lamichhane was suspended ignoring the constitutional provisions and that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) would seek a legal solution to this.

Noting that there is a trend in world politics to not accept, criticize and attack new forces, he said that he had drawn the attention of the Speaker and indicated that the House would not be allowed to function unless the suspension was lifted immediately.

He said, ‘There have been stages in the world of ignoring, criticising, attacking and accepting the existence of new forces. We feel that we are currently going through the stage of attack. But the fourth stage will come soon. That is acceptance of existence, entry. We are fully confident of moving from the third stage to the fourth stage. There is a special absence in this esteemed House today. Honorable Ravi Lamichhane, the MP from Chitwan Constituency No. 2, who won twice in the parliamentary history of Nepal by a margin of 50,000 votes, and the President of our party, is not present here today. This decision has been made based on the provision of Section 27 of the Asset Laundering Act introduced in 2064 BS, which suspends all public servants as soon as a case is filed.’

‘He has been suspended ignoring the constitution we made. We are seeking legal redress for it. Today, for the sake of decency and decency, the Honorable Speaker has an objection to the suspension, and we have requested him to lift it. The entire state power has been directed against Ravi Lamichhane with vengeance and prejudice. I should not speak on matters pending in the court. I will not speak. “This is a country where the court has exercised that judicial courage, that courage, by dismissing the then royal commission that had put all the famous leaders in jail,” he said.

He also urged the government to withdraw and resubmit the bill related to the operation and regulation of social media, stating that the current government is bringing laws through ordinances and disrupting the Constitutional Council.
