Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party has demanded the formation of a high-level inquiry commission to investigate the human trafficking and visit visa scandal.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, NCP lawmaker Shishir Khanal demanded the formation of a high-level inquiry commission to investigate organised crime and money laundering against the home minister and other officials in the visit visa case.
He said that from manpower to airlines and from employees to home minister’s secretariat are also involved in the visit visa case. He warned that parliament would not be allowed to function until Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak resigned and an investigation was initiated.
“It is not a matter of a single employee asking for a bribe from a citizen when he went to get citizenship. It is connected to the secretariat from manpower to airlines, from employees to ministers. The question has been raised on the minister. Research should be done. Resignation should come. But we are not just asking for resignation. There should be an impartial investigation into this corruption done in an organized manner. Parliament cannot function until a high-level inquiry commission is formed to investigate organised crime and money laundering. ’
Tuesday’s meeting was adjourned for half an hour after the opposition parties raised slogans demanding the home minister’s resignation.
