Kathmandu. The government has allocated Rs 95.81 billion for the Ministry of Health and Population for the next fiscal year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel said this while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS in a joint sitting of both houses of the federal parliament on Thursday.

He said the National Public Health Laboratory at Teku would be upgraded to an international standard laboratory for testing all types of samples. He claimed that infrastructure development, machinery equipment and human resources would be managed for the upgradation of the laboratory.

Finance Minister Poudel expressed the belief that this would end the situation of sending samples abroad for testing.

Stating that alternative therapies like Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Augupenture would be promoted, he said the production capacity of Singha Durbar Vaidyakhana would be expanded.
