Rs 2.08 billion allocated for Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens

Kathmandu. The government has allocated Rs 2.08 billion for the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens for the next fiscal year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel said this while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS at a joint sitting of both houses of the federal parliament on Thursday.

He said effective programmes would be launched to end all discrimination and harassment against women and ensure the right to equality economically, socially and culturally. He said arrangements would be made for the protection of homeless and parentless children, family reunification, social rehabilitation and alternative care.

Stating that the capacity of the children’s home would be expanded, Finance Minister Poudel said that psychosocial and growth counseling would be provided to bring the addicted children on the right path.

Stating that the child help line service would be linked with citizen apps, he said the knowledge, skills and experience of senior citizens would be transferred to generations.
