Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that it is clear from the royalist protests that former King Gyanendra Shah is not fit to be a constitutional monarch.
Talking to media persons at the Federal Parliament premises on Sunday, Mahat, who is also a former Finance Minister, said that the chaos seen in the protests has led them to conclude that former King Shah wants to become an absolute monarch.
He said that during the protests of royalist groups, they have shown no concern for the feelings of the people. He stated that the royalists are in the mindset of forcibly occupying the country and said that the government will take action against those who damage private property and spread agitation.
He said, “The royalist movement also flatly rejected the idea that former King Gyanendra Shah wanted to become a constitutional monarch. From the kind of tendencies, activities and chaos that were seen, we conclude that his goal is to become an autocratic monarch. The mindset of forcibly occupying the country was seen. Those who are involved in that incident, have vandalized, damaged private property and have spread agitation will be taken action against by the government based on facts and evidence.”
He said that since democracy is the best system in the world, there can be no other alternative to democracy.
