Kathmandu. The Nepal Electricity Authority completed the repair of a broken pipe in the wholesale drinking water distribution system in Babarmahal on Wednesday while conducting ‘horizontal drilling’ to lay electricity cables underground.
The repair of the pipe in the wholesale drinking water distribution system in Kathmandu was completed after about 20 hours following the instructions of Drinking Water Minister Pradeep Yadav, informed Ashok Kumar Poudel, Chief Executive Director of Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Limited (KUKL).
He said, ‘After the pipe broke, the repair work started last night following the instructions of the Drinking Water Minister. The repair was completed after about 20 hours. We have started testing the water now, and we will start the water distribution process as soon as the testing is completed.’
Minister Yadav has been emphasizing that the Electricity Authority should work in necessary coordination with the ministry and subordinate bodies. On Wednesday, the area was submerged after a pipe in the wholesale drinking water distribution system at Babarmahal burst, and water entered the surrounding government offices, including the special court.
