Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chief Whip Gyan Bahadur Shahi has said that the monarchy was overthrown through deception, not through a referendum or a movement. He said this while participating in the discussion on the policy and program of the upcoming fiscal year in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday.

He said that it would not be good to attack someone’s political beliefs. Calling former King Gyanendra Shah a tiger, he commented that a cat cannot become a tiger just because it matches its color. He said that the current political parties were born abroad and the evidence for this can be found in the statements of people who have become ambassadors.

Chief Whip Shahi said, ‘Someone’s political beliefs have been questioned here and there. Earlier, an honorable person said. He said it is not a tiger. A tiger is a tiger. A cat cannot become a tiger just because it matches its color. What do you mean by this revolution, where did it come from? Everyone was born abroad, right? Whether you talk about the 12 points, or about the leaders going into hiding, this is not what I said. Look at the statements made by former ambassadors. The then External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj herself, speaking in Parliament, has clearly said how you threw out the king, under the guise of foreigners. They brought this constitution and system. That is why a nationalist is a nationalist, a tiger is a tiger even if it is old. Does a cat become a tiger just because it matches the color of a cat? That is why the history of this country is a monarchy. A tiger is a tiger. A cat cannot become a tiger just because it matches the color, a king is a king.’

Chief Whip Shahi said that the current constitution and system were brought by foreigners.
