Gorkha. The ward office building of Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality-6 Ashrang has been reconstructed. Ward Chairman Ranjan Rimal informed that the ward office building, which was completely damaged by the devastating earthquake on Baisakh 12, 2072 BS, has been reconstructed.
He said that the building was reconstructed at a cost of 8.862 million rupees allocated by the rural municipality. ‘The newly constructed building has six rooms and two toilets,’ he said, ‘from now on, it will be easier for citizens to provide services.’
Earlier, the ward was providing services from the building of the local women’s group due to lack of its own building. The rural municipality had signed a contract agreement with Shiva Engineering Pvt. Ltd. in Jestha 2079 BS for the construction of the ward building.
‘The work had to be completed by Asoj 2081 BS after the deadline was extended for the second time, but the building has finally been constructed, and service delivery has also started from the newly constructed building,’ he said. The ward had been facing problems in preserving documents due to water leakage during the rainy season in the women’s group building.
‘It was very difficult to provide agricultural, animal, technical and registration services from a single room in a cramped building,’ said Ward Chair Rimal. ‘We have now been freed from all those problems.’ Despite the construction of the building, the ward still lacks a meeting hall.
He said, ‘We have also taken the necessary steps to build a meeting hall. A recommendation has been made through the District Coordination Committee, and it is almost certain that a meeting hall with two rooms will be built on the top floor of the building.’
