Kathmandu. Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) President Ravi Singh has said that although the government has amended the Public Procurement Rules to pave the way for the extension of the deadline of some projects, the workers have been dilly-dallying.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Society of Infrastructure Journalists in the capital on Monday, he said strict action should be taken against such employees.
According to him, the construction sector has been facing a difficult situation due to the negligence of the employees since the past. He also said that the government has brought many good things in the next year’s budget.
He said that the program of mining and exporting mineral products and river products brought in the budget should now be implemented effectively.
Singh said, “The rules will be amended. The deadline of the projects will be extended, but the employees do not extend the deadline. Action should be taken against such employees who do not do so. How many employees have been prosecuted so far? We are not aware of the action taken. The government should take action against such employees. ’
According to Chairman Singh, the availability of river products and mineral products should be smooth. In the past, due to lack of easy availability of these items, there was discomfort in the construction of the infrastructure.
Singh said that the government should make arrangements for the operation of the crushers in Nepal legally and the goods produced from the crusher should be purchased like paddy and rice. According to Singh, the government’s inclusion of more than Rs 30 million projects in the upcoming budget has put an end to the manipulation by forming consumer committees.
