Kathmandu. Rato Matsyendranath’s bhoto is going to be displayed today. Rato Matsyendranath, considered to be the god of sahakal and rain, is going to be displayed today.
This tradition is believed to be about 800 years old. The rath yatra of Rato Matsyendranath starts from Vaishakh Shukla Pratipada and continues till the fourth day of Asar Shukla. Bhoto Jatra is organized at Jawalakhel at the end of the rath yatra.
It has been believed that the ghosts are offered food and worship the red Matsyendranath as a symbol of rain and co-existence. It is believed that the philosophy of Mani Manikya-studded Bhoto will remove mental anxiety, bring peace and get auspicious results. On this occasion, the government has declared a public holiday in The Kathmandu Valley today.
