Rampur. The classroom is equipped with cutting-edge technology. Students have smart tabs in their hands instead of books, paper, and pens. Students are busy searching for new things and getting information from Google. Students from small to large classes are seen sitting in the classroom and studying according to their turns.

The facility to open a smart tab and study on your own is probably rare even in private schools in Nepal. Such technology may not have been introduced in community schools. Students of Ramtulsi Model Secondary School in Bejhad Bazaar, Rampur Municipality-5, Palpa are currently studying through smart tabs.

Anyone who sees such technology in a community school feels like they are studying in a classroom in a foreign school. With teaching starting to be done through unexpected technology, the school is currently attracting the attention of not only students but also parents, public representatives, and locals.

In a classroom, students not only have smart tabs in their hands, but also technology such as recording studios, computers, laptops, mixers, microphones, and video cameras.

This technology is seen in radio and television, recording studios. But in this school, teaching is being done in a single classroom by installing cutting-edge technology. Seeing this work, it feels like studying in a large university abroad.

Adopting the latest technology, the school is constructing cutting-edge information technology classrooms (ICT classrooms) and connecting various devices.

Student Bibisha Ghimire says that it is a great opportunity for us to study abroad using technology developed in our own school. She herself uses the Smart Tab to search for new things related to studies and get information.

‘Not all students have the facilities of various technologies like computers and laptops at home, not all students can connect with technology, the state-of-the-art information technology classroom at the school has provided us with an environment to learn new knowledge and skills, this has brought the relationship between technology and students closer,’ she said.

In the past, students used to spend their free time talking to each other, but now, as soon as they get free time, they go to the ICT classroom and focus on technology.

Students from small to large classes are very happy to sit and study in ICT classes. Not only is the well-equipped technology classroom here widely discussed, but the presence of people coming to observe the study is now increasing.

Student Sandesh Pokharel shared his experience that the use of technology increases activity in reading and makes him want to learn and explore something new every day.

To learn this technology, you have to spend a lot of money outside, we do not have the facilities to learn even if we want to, but we have got an important opportunity to study on our own at the school level, he said.

Student Anisha Shrestha says that technology-based education not only makes teaching easier but also makes students accustomed to learning, searching, and obtaining information about something new.

She said that she felt that learning was easier to understand and remember when teachers searched for information related to the lesson on Google while teaching.

Some topics cannot be explained through theoretical teaching alone and must be explained to students through an experimental method. Therefore, science teacher Rajan Ghimire says that students understand faster and become more aware of learning new things after using technology to teach.

He has the experience that the use of information technology is indispensable for teaching work, as some of the content related to the lesson needs to be shown experimentally using technology.

Classes have been conducted in a way that is used by all students from the early childhood development level (Montessori). Not only computer subjects are being taught for classes 6 to 10, but also all subjects for students in classes 9 and 10.

The work of teaching and learning new technology to students in younger classes is also underway. Currently, there is an arrangement where 50 students can sit and study on smart tabs at a time.

A well-equipped classroom with monitoring, video camera, printer, laptop, microphone, mixer, recording studio, separate arrangement of editing room, three panelboards for students to work in groups, AC is being used for teaching and learning.

A state-of-the-art information technology classroom has been constructed in partnership with the Ministry of Education and ICE Korea.

Out of the three schools selected in Nepal for the construction of classrooms with this technology, Ramtulsi Model Secondary School and Nepal Secondary School located in Tarakhola, Baglung have been approved by the Ministry of Education and have completed the construction and put into use.

The school has stated that it was prepared at a cost of about Rs. 15 million. It has been operational for teaching work since the last academic session.

Training programs related to information and communication technology are also held here.

During class teaching, students immediately search for the answer to the question on Google and find it themselves, so they do not have to keep turning the pages of the book to find the answer and can find new things related to the lesson themselves by using technology, says Information Technology (IT) teacher Chandra Prakash Bhattarai.

‘The things taught by the teacher are recorded in the recording studio. If a student does not understand or finds it difficult while studying, he can come the next day or arrange a time on the same day to repeat and study and understand. More students are eager and curious to learn new things by searching on Google. Teaching is being done in an entertaining way,’ he said.

The school has become capable of producing manpower that can compete even abroad in the 21st century, and of meeting the needs of students by adopting modern technology, says Principal Balkrishna Lamsal.

He said that not only an information technology lab (ICT lab) but also state-of-the-art information technology classrooms have been prepared to work differently from other schools.

‘Students are learning with their smart tablets in their hands and are practicing experiential teaching and learning. Students are also excited to learn new technology,’ said Principal Lamsal. ‘Our slogan is ‘Ramtulsi for learning’. Anyone who comes here will learn something new and different from other schools. This is the identity of Ramtulsi.’

The school is a clean, neat, technology-friendly school with a green park. Principal Lamsal requests all parents to send their students to this school with confidence and become familiar with the technology-friendly teaching method.

He says that the school has come this far because of the trust and support of the parents towards the school. It has been declared as a model school by the Government of Nepal since 2074 BS. Diploma in Agriculture Crop Science classes are being conducted in the higher education stream under the Education, Humanities, Management, Science and Technical streams.

By studying technical education in their own village, students do not have to face the problem of going out for higher education and financial burden.

This school is known as a model-oriented and old school in Palpa district. Currently, about 2,700 students from Palpa, Syangja, Tanahun and Nawalpur districts are studying in this school. About 100 teachers and staff are working.

Security personnel have been mobilized for the supervision and security of the school.

Currently, classes are being held here in Nepali and English medium up to grade 10. The school’s environment, discipline, and community-based nature make it a good school for education, so students are excited to study at Ram Tulsi.

The exemplary work done by community schools in the educational sector has led to the mentality that students and parents should study in institutional schools to get a good education.

A well-organized laboratory has been prepared for educational purposes and arrangements have been made for students of younger and older classes to learn computers in different rooms.

The school has stated that it has a well-organized library, bus facilities, modern cafeteria operation, emphasis on the use of sanitary pads, use of STEM lab, operation of the school’s website and server, and student progress details have been organized.

A nurse teacher has been arranged for first aid. The technology-friendly model of early childhood development, i.e. Montessori class, which has been operating here, has received a lot of attention.

Keeping in mind the educational quality, a technology-friendly Montessori class has been launched targeting children of the early school-going age group.

Ram Tulsi Secondary School, which has succeeded in making a good name in the physical and educational fields, has become the choice of many. There are good facilities such as adequate playgrounds, well-equipped toilets, drinking water, laboratories, libraries, etc.

The provision of all necessary educational materials for students, the provision of healthy snacks prepared within the school, and the environment of learning while reading and playing have made students curious about learning.

Generally, school hours are from 10 am to 4 pm, but as needed, the teachers and staff here are busy day and night from morning to evening for the educational development of the school.

After the teachers, staff, management committee, and parents worked day and night to improve the educational and physical standards of the school, the school has become exactly what the students thought and wanted.

When we look at the history of Ram Tulsi Secondary School, it is a school that started with the letters party and pauwa. Due to the lack of buildings, the school, which provided education to students in the village party, pauwa, courtyard, open courtyard, and garden, is now known to everyone as a model school with facilities.

Established in 2025 BS to provide the bright light of education, this school is known as the old high school in eastern Palpa. It has been included in the future plan to realize the slogan ‘Ram Tulsi for learning’.

The plan mentions connecting information and communication to education, building classrooms with physical facilities, building a large-capacity educational hall, and conducting parent education.
