Targeting domestic tourists attending the ongoing 8th Myagdi Festival in Beni, a short-distance rafting trip has been launched from Wednesday from Jaleshwor in Beni to Dobhan near the open stage.
Gamm Pun, the operator of Gandaki Hotel in Kalipul, said that rafting has been launched in collaboration with Nepal River Explorer Pvt. Ltd.
Pun has been conducting regular rafting trips on the Kaligandaki River every winter. “For additional entertainment for the visitors and tourists coming to the festival, rafting has been started, and we have provided rafting services for short distances at a minimum fee,” he said.
It is said that rafting can be done from Jaleshwor in Beni to the confluence of the Myagdi and Kaligandaki rivers for 800 per person and from Bagarphant to the confluence for 600.
Guide Santosh Giri said that the hilly geography around the river and the settlements in the coastal area are considered ideal for rafting on the Kaligandaki River. He informed that if a group of people who want to enjoy rafting is formed, rafting can be conducted even over long distances.
Two boats with a capacity of eight passengers each have been operated for the time being. Although priority has been given to Galeshwor-Beni, it is said that rafting can also be conducted via Beni via Maldhunga to Nayapul and Mirmi, as per the wishes of passengers and tourists.
