Kathmandu. Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has commented that former King Gyanendra Shah cannot become a constitutional monarch under any circumstances. Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday, General Secretary Thapa made this comment.

He says that no matter how much the Shah is washed and cleaned, he is not worthy of becoming a constitutional monarch. He claims that the Nepali Congress has come to the decision that it cannot have a constitutional monarch after a long struggle and experience. He accused former King Shah of creating chaos by sitting in Nirmal Niwas and asked what he would do if he were in Narayanhiti.

He accused former King Shah of creating chaos by bringing businessman Durga Prasai and former Pancha Nawaraj Subedi.

He said, “No matter how much we wash and clean the King of Nepal, no one can make him constitutional. The Nepali Congress Party has reached that decision after a long experience. When he was living in Nirmal Niwas, he created such chaos, where was Durga Prasai and brought him, and Nawaraj Subedi, who lives in our area, who used to write books and abuse the King until recently, has created such chaos by sitting in Nirmal Niwas. What would they have done if it had been in Narayanhiti?’

He also claims that the representatives elected by the people are capable of running the country. Speaking on a different occasion, General Secretary Thapa urged no one to be confused, saying that the party’s general convention will be held on time. He claims that the party’s general convention will be held by Mangsir 2083 BS. He also called on party workers to join hands in building the organization, saying that there is dissatisfaction due to the fact that the leaders in the party are becoming strong and the cadres are becoming weak.

General Secretary Thapa also accused the government of not being able to work as expected and expressed the intention that the government did not follow through on what the political mechanism formed by the government said.

He said that although the mechanism has been providing necessary suggestions to support the work of the party, no meaningful work has been done. He also said that it is necessary to be clear about the work of employee transfers, promotions and appointments, which is done by the government and not by the mechanism.

He said, “The work is not being done at the pace we expect the government to work at.” I am also in charge of the mechanism. Sometimes, the mechanism does everything after the colleagues say what they think. At least my colleagues in my area should be clear about this. The government should do the work that the government does, not the mechanism. If we think that the political mechanism should also do the work of appointments and transfers, then this is not a democratic government. The Prime Minister’s job is to do the Prime Minister’s job and the ministers’ job is to do the ministers’ job. The mechanism’s job is to strengthen the policy reforms that the government takes. We are supporting the KP Oli-led government to do good work. But if nothing happens by heating the pot, then we have to heat it up even if it is hot. Yesterday, I was also telling my ministerial colleagues as a minister. We need work quickly. But why is it not happening?’

He also claimed that he was always asking questions because the UML-Congress-led joint government could not deliver the desired results.
