Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Sita Mijar has drawn the government’s attention to the slow progress of the Federal Parliament Building being constructed within the Singha Durbar complex. Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, MP Mijar said this.

She mentioned that even after the fourth extension of the deadline for the Parliament Building construction project, which was started with the target of completion in 2079, only 86 percent of the physical progress has been made.

She said that the condition of the construction of a constitutional body like the Parliament is worrying and asked what is the condition of the projects under construction in other parts of the country. Who will take responsibility for the slow progress in the construction of the building under construction? She also demanded a clear answer.

She said, ‘The construction of the Federal Parliament Building construction project, which began within the confines of Singha Durbar and is scheduled to be completed in 2079 BS, has made only 86 percent physical progress even after the deadline was extended for the fourth time. The condition of this project, which is being built in a place that is visible to everyone and has been monitored and inspected by the President, Prime Minister, Speaker and parliamentary committee many times, is very critical. What is the condition of projects in other parts of the country? Mr. Speaker, how long will this situation continue? And who will be responsible for it? I demand a clear answer to this?’

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament Building at Putali Bagaincha in Singha Durbar on Asoj 1, 2076 BS. Although the work was started as per the target of completing the construction in three years, the deadline has been extended repeatedly due to not being completed on time. Twelve buildings of the Federal Parliament are being constructed on 151 ropanis of land.
