Public holiday today at all local levels in Palpa

Palpa. The 43rd National Magar Unity Day is being celebrated today in the district where the Magar community is in the majority. Organizations that have been working for the identity, preservation of language and culture and unity of the Magar people are going to celebrate this day by organizing various programs.

This day is celebrated every year on Falgun 15 on the occasion of the establishment of the Nepal Magar Association. Magar groups and organizations from all over the country under the indigenous and nationalist community are celebrating this day. This day is considered an organizational festival of the Magars. Cultural programs including grand cultural tableau performances are being held in various places in the district today.

The Nepal Magar Association District Working Committee and other groups are organizing municipal-level programs. Today, grand cultural programs are being held in places including Rampur, Mathagadhi, Tinau, Nisdi in the district. All 10 local levels here have also declared a public holiday today.

More than 54 percent of the Magars live in the district. The Magar community has started celebrating Magar Day in commemoration of the first convention of the Nepal Langhali Family Association on Falgun 15, 2039 BS. On the occasion of Magar Foundation Day, the district Magar Association, city and rural municipality-level Magar Associations of all districts, as well as organizations affiliated with Magars abroad, have announced that the Nepal Magar Association will organize various programs on the occasion of Magar Foundation Day. Magari art and culture are very popular in Palpa.

All communities, including Magars, enjoy the Magari art and culture of Jharme, Salejo, Kauda, Maruni, Thulo Nach, and Jhyaure. Nepal Magar Association Palpa President Shanti Jhedi Thapa informed that Magar Unity Day will be celebrated with grandeur at all local levels in Palpa, from ward to ward to tole.

Under the Nepal Magar Association Central Committee, provincial committees have been formed in all seven provinces, district committees in 68 out of 77 districts, and local level committees in 530 out of 753 rural municipalities/municipalities.

Currently, various sectoral, professional, and clan-based organizations are affiliated and active with the Nepal Magar Association. The association has launched an organizational campaign with the slogan “Wherever there is a Magar, there is a Magar association, and wherever there is a Magar association, there is Magar autonomy” to unite the Magars.
