Taplejung. Prohibitory orders have been issued in the Phungling Bazaar and Pathibhara areas of the Taplejung district headquarters. The District Administration Office, Taplejung, has issued a prohibitory order effective from this morning after the dispute over the construction of a cable car in Pathibhara escalated.
A notice issued by Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma on Saturday night stated that a prohibitory order has been issued in the Phungling Bazaar and Pathibhara areas of the district headquarters. The notice states that the prohibitory order had to be issued due to the adverse situation after a clash between the No Cable Car faction and the police in the Phungling market on Saturday evening.
The prohibitory order has been issued pursuant to Section 6 (3) (a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028 due to sensitive and adverse circumstances. A prohibitory order has been issued from 5 am today until further notice, including the Phungling Bazaar area, Dokhu Salleri to the east, Ghochau and Thalangdhar to the west, Ukali Pani to the north and Sherpa Tole, Veterinary Kanchanjungha Tole to the south.
A prohibitory order has been imposed within a 100-meter area of the new bus park under construction in the Kaflepati area of Pathibhara area, including the tourist police building to the east, the Baludanda area to the west, the cable car base station to the north and the new bus park under construction to the south. It has been said that no more than five people will be allowed to gather in the area where the ban has been issued, and no activities such as meetings, processions, demonstrations and gheraos will be allowed.
On Saturday evening, a clash broke out between the No Cable Car group and the police in the district headquarters of Phungling over the issue of the under-construction cable car. Last Thursday, a clash broke out between the No Cable Car group and the police at the cable car construction site in the Pathibhara area. Thirteen people, including police officers, protesters and others, were injured in the clash.
