Spain. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, while addressing the plenary closing session of the Civil Society Forum as the chief guest, has stressed on the need for reform of the international financial system. Prime Minister Oli, who is on an official visit to Spain to participate in the United Nations’ Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, has stressed that developing countries should fulfill their commitments for financial investment.
He said that civil society should continue to raise its voice on the unfinished agenda for development cooperation, debt sustainability and international financial system reform. ‘You are not only participants in this conference, but also a catalyst and a powerful voice for change. Your advocacy and voice can contribute to visible results,’ said Prime Minister Oli. ‘Nepal is moving forward on the journey of good governance, development and prosperity by believing in good governance, the rule of law and democratic values and norms. Nepal is clear in its belief that investment in the world should be based on inclusiveness, need and proportionality. I appreciate the global partnership and participation of civil society in this.’
Says that civil society advocacy will provide strength for people, the planet and shared responsibilities, and calls for taking the lead in building an equitable and sustainable future without leaving anyone behind. In the program, which was also attended by Spanish Vice President Calvo Poyato, Prime Minister Oli said that everyone should fulfill their shared responsibility to mobilize private sector capital to create good jobs and promote inclusive growth and find resources for development. The declaration passed by the civil society session will be adopted by the ‘Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development’.
