Kathmandu. The National Private and Residential Schools Association Nepal (National PABSON) and the Continuing and Professional Education Center (CPEC) under Kathmandu University jointly organized a Pre-Primary School Curriculum Development Workshop from Chaitra 20 to 22.
The workshop was attended by experts in pre-primary education from across the country, founding principals of private schools, and professors from Kathmandu University. The objective of the workshop was to make the pre-primary curriculum of the 21st century modern, effective, and child-friendly. Participants interacted on topics focused on improving teaching methods, utilizing the latest theories, effective use of educational materials, and holistic development of children.
Education experts and distinguished professors from Kathmandu University provided advice and guidance on creating a suitable curriculum for children aged 0 to 8, based on Nepal’s Child Development and Education Curriculum. The current curriculum being implemented in private schools was reviewed and a plan to develop a curriculum targeting children aged 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, and 7-8 was discussed.
The workshop participants were provided with educational research, motivational classes, and dynamic activities, which are expected to bring about overall improvements in the pre-primary education system in Nepal.
The proposed curriculum, developed by National PABSON in collaboration with Kathmandu University, will be taken forward for approval by the Curriculum Development Center. In addition, National PABSON has stated that it plans to conduct a training of trainers program for implementation in schools across the country and provide necessary training to teachers.
Education Policy and Training Commission Chief Karna Bahadur Shahi and National PABSON Central President Geeta Chhetri Rana announced the successful conclusion of the workshop.
