Nawalparasi. Work on the Ayoja Postal Road, the lifeline of Tarai Madhes, had been stalled for the past two years. The contract for the 14-km postal road from Narayanchowk to Triveni in Bardaghat municipality-13 of West Nawalparasi was awarded in November 2018 at a cost of Rs 589.6 million, but the progress of the road was very slow.
For the last two years, the work on this road was stalled. On the one hand, there was negligence on the part of the construction side and on the other hand, they complained that the work could not be carried forward due to non-payment of payment by the government.
After being elected to the House of Representatives from West Nawalparasi-1, lawmaker Binod Chaudhary started the initiative to resume the postal road work. He had been pressuring the construction party to go ahead with the work and on the other hand, he had been urging the government to solve the problem of payment.
Lawmaker Chaudhary, who had promised to give priority to postal road work during the election, has now borne fruit. The work on the postal road, which has been stalled for two years, has resumed. Chaudhary said, “We have been successful in finding a solution to the problems shown by the new contractor Ramu Adhikariji. He has promised to complete the work in eight months. This is a great achievement. ’
Adhikari, a construction entrepreneur, said that the postal road work has resumed after the initiative of lawmaker Chaudhary. He said, “We have started the work after the continuous initiative of the Honorable Prime Minister. The main problem is payment. Hon’ble Prime Minister has personally taken some initiative in this regard. He said that the work of postal road section has been forwarded by coordinating and facilitating with all stakeholders, including the minister. ’
According to contractor Adhikari, the construction of about six kilometers road from Narayan Chowk to Belatari has been given priority initially. “We will immediately blacktop three to four kilometers of roads. In some places, the road will be levelled by rolling,” he said, adding, “The locals who are suffering due to the lack of roads are saying that they will provide necessary support to build this road. ’
He also said that he was ready to pay the suppliers by sitting at the local level people’s representatives or the District Administration Office.
