He said that the said company has completed the construction of the bridge that was left in a state of disrepair by the previous construction company. According to Information Officer Panta, for the first time in the fiscal year 2064/65, Kalika-OCA JV was awarded a contract to complete the construction of the bridge for Rs 103.2 million.

The contractor company had left the 348-meter-long bridge abandoned after constructing only 24.8 meters. ‘Vehicle movement has started after the construction of the bridge,’ he said. ‘It is likely that the bridge will be operated smoothly after the construction of the access road within this month.’

An embankment is also being constructed on the river to protect the bridge. He said that with the construction of the Kankai River Bridge, the postal highway from Mechi Bridge in the east to Biratnagar will be operated smoothly. The contractor’s negligence is also delaying the construction of the bridge.
