Lalitpur. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh has expressed the belief that positive and capable youth can become heroes of social transformation. Inaugurating the Model United Nations Exercise-2025 organized by the National Youth Council in Lalitpur today, Deputy Prime Minister Singh expressed the belief that the youth, considered a source of creation and courage, would be ready to contribute by identifying the needs of the state.
“In the present situation, our beautiful land located in the lap of the mountains is in a state of unease with the unnatural trend of internal and external migration, today the most Nepali land in history is looking for the support of the youth, it is believed that the beautiful and peaceful land will definitely not leave the support sought by this land,” he said.
Recalling that the National Youth Council was established in 2072 BS with the objective of creating a conducive environment for the overall development of the youth and engaging them from policy formulation to implementation level, he said that we expect and suggest from you youth for the works to be done and can be done on behalf of the Government of Nepal.
Deputy Prime Minister Singh cautioned the youth on the growing environmental and environmental problems, political polarization, international relations, use of nuclear weapons, among others. Recalling that 42.56 percent of the population in the age group of 16 to 40 years is present in Nepal as per the latest census, he said that this is also a time of demographic benefit for us.
On the occasion, Minister for Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary said the role of youth in the overall development of the country was important. He expressed the belief that this exercise would top the leadership role at the national and international level and gave importance to the participation of youth in every field.
Minister Chaudhary hoped that the programme would contribute significantly to moving ahead by remaining committed to the law and responsibilities with zeal and consciousness. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nepal Representative Kyoko Yokosuka expressed confidence that this model UN exercise would help in refining the diversity, inclusiveness, diplomatic aspects and democratic system of the global environment.
National Youth Council Vice-Chair Surendra Basnet said that the event has been organized to develop the leadership of the youth and to make them skilled and capable in international forums, global issues, cultural understanding and sustainable development goals. He informed that a sample UN exercise of youths from all over the country will be conducted for four days.
