Kathmandu. Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal has said that policy and practical reforms in customs administration are necessary. He said this while speaking on the occasion of the 73rd International Customs Day organized by the Customs Department today (Sunday).
He also suggested that the reference price book used during customs clearance should be removed and the inspection should be done based on the transaction value.
Similarly, due to the increase in illegal imports, trade in border markets has decreased but cross-border markets have increased, he said. He pointed out the need to make the Harmonized Code (HS Code) 10-digit as per international practice and to build well-equipped ‘quarantine labs’ in all customs offices.
