Kathmandu. The main opposition party, the CPN (Maoist Centre), has responded that the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year are not new and are traditional.
Talking to media persons after the government’s policies and programs were presented in a joint meeting of both houses of the federal parliament, Agni Prasad Sapkota, vice-chairman and spokesperson of the Maoist Centre, said, ‘There is nothing new in the policies and programs.’ It cannot inspire hope in the people because it has come in a traditional way.’
Speaking that the program lacks clear guidelines to chart the future because it is traditional and past-oriented, Spokesperson Sapkota termed the policy and program as an abstract document and said that it cannot inspire hope in the people.
Nepal Samajwadi Party (New Power) Chairman and former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai responded that the government formed by the two major and different ideological parties of the country was expected to bring qualitative policies and programs, but it did not do so, and instead came based on continuity.
He said, ‘Everything has come in the program, but it came in a traditional reformist manner. I expected that the country’s needs would come with qualitative changes in the areas of good governance and the economy, but I did not get that.’
Says that these reform measures cannot address the current challenges, former Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai said that if all issues are included in the program, there will be confusion in implementation due to lack of prioritization.
