Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need to take forward the sagarmatha cleaning campaign as a campaign. He said this while addressing a program organized on the occasion of International Sagarmatha Day in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Stating that there is a lot of problem of garbage on Mt Everest, he said that there is a challenge to clean it. He said that although the cleaning has been done in two phases, it has not been cleaned yet, adding that it is necessary to make some rules for cleaning Mt Everest.
He said that it is necessary to keep a rule to bring the shell of food to the base camp while returning. Stating that the government is now amending the Act, he said that various parties can give their suggestions in this regard.
Pm Oli said, “I still listen to the discussions of my friends. I don’t want to say anything about that. There is no need to say much. There is a problem of garbage in this area, especially in the Sagarmatha area. There is a problem with cleaning it. We campaigned for it for two rounds, but it hasn’t happened yet. Still, we have to continue our efforts to keep Mt Everest clean as a campaign. Some rules and regulations will also have to be made in it. The one who takes it can’t do any garbage there. ‘
“If you eat biscuits, you have to bring it back to the base camp. If such rules are not kept, then another climber will have to go to clean only the same garbage. We need two others to clean up the garbage thrown away by one person. Should we also make arrangements for garbage cleaning? Now we are amending the Act. We are also amending the rules. We will discuss various aspects in this regard. About the cloud that is going on there,” he said.
Stating that Mt Everest is not the same as it used to be, PM Oli said that it has become much easier to climb Mt Everest now.
