Kathmandu. Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr Shekhar Koirala has stressed the need to fight again for democratic values, conduct, values and values. He said this while addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Friday.
He advised people not to do wrong things and stay at home if they are unable to do the right thing.
Stating that good governance should be provided, he objected to prime minister KP Sharma Oli’s statement at the office-bearers’ meeting on May 15 that Kathmandu should be taken over by the UML.
He accused the Prime Minister of not going to the commission’s anniversary program as an excuse after the National Human Rights Commission alerted him about pm Oli’s statement. “What kind of democracy are we looking for if the Prime Minister does not attend the anniversary celebrations of the National Human Rights Commission,” he asked.
“I have once again seen the need for us to fight for democratic values, conduct, values and values. Let us not do wrong things. If we can’t do the right thing, let’s keep quiet and stay at home. But let’s not do wrong things. Don’t let corruption bother us day by day. Don’t let impunity hurt you. Let’s give good governance. We have to change our behaviour. A few days ago, a meeting of office-bearers and former office-bearers was held. A day before that, the Prime Minister of the country said that THE UML should capture Kathmandu on May 15. ‘
“When I heard it, I protested. What does the Prime Minister of the country mean? It doesn’t matter if I protest. The National Human Rights Commission has been given constitutional powers. They also said that the Prime Minister should not speak like this without issuing a statement. The Prime Minister was supposed to go there tomorrow. He did not make excuses for the anniversary. The Prime Minister was told there was no time. What kind of democracy are we looking for if the Prime Minister does not attend the anniversary of the National Human Rights Commission? I thought that the meeting of the office-bearers would discuss these issues. I laughed. It’s okay to bear it. There should be tolerance in politics. Why can’t we say what the government has done wrong is wrong,” he said.
Koirala said that the rally of Rastriya Prajatantra Party was bigger than the UML’s, which was the result of frustration among the youth.
He said the conduct of the present leaders is not that of a democratic republic. He said that if the moral ground is weak in politics, the roots of politics will be shaken. Such a person should not do politics.
He suggested to be ethical while doing politics.
Lawmaker Koirala said, “You touched on what was the rally of Rastriya Prajatantra Party and the rally of UML. Why is it weak? Because our conduct is not the conduct of a democratic republic. There is depression among the youth. They are looking for a way. They have seen the musical cheers of these four people, how the king’s reign was. And where do they go? We should be able to win the hearts of the youth by doing good work. ’
Stating that the Nc was in the government but not in power, Koirala said the good works done by the government should be termed as good and bad as bad. He said that the budget is positive and there is a need to improve the implementation aspect.
